The first picture at the right is called The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters. Its title sums up why sites like this one need to exist. Goya said of this work: "The author dreaming. His one intention is to banish harmful beliefs commonly held, and with this work of caprichos to perpetuate the solid testimony of truth".

The images throughout the site from Goya's Los Caprichos series were obtained from Open Access College, South Australia. The Open Access College no longer have these pictures on their site. There is a book about this fabulous series, Goya – Los Caprichos by Philip Hofer

I saw the series with my own eyes at the National Gallery of Victoria.
